BRANDING FOR A VIDEO GAME
DESIGN ASSETS FOR A GAME CALLED - YOU BELONG
Simplified cover art - Jack de Graaf
Our Brand:
Going under the name "Team Moonlight" our group of various disciplines (Music, design, animation) had set out to create one students vision for a video game (2018). Since then we now go by Clear World Games and may work on future projects once we see this game reach its fullest potential.
You can download the game in its demo form right now on our itch.io page.
Designing for the Game:
As a graphic designer working on You Belong, it has been exciting every step of the way to build and to better each piece of design. Throughout uni I was tasked with mainly showcasing and promoting the game through various printed material and advertising. Since then have worked more on in-game art, whether that be logos for stores or the user interface (pause/title screen etc).
My favourite area in designing for this game has been coming up with the look of our fictitious brands in the game, though it taken quite some time to come up with different names and logos fitting in the town of Asatsuyu, it does feel rewarding once they've been given life in the game.
Brief Description:
Create your character and explore the fictional town of Asatsuyu.
Meet the townspeople and learn more about their lives.
This town looks especially beautiful during its moonlight phase.

Packaging
Print media is still important and relevant. It’s the content we see that helps create a buzz. These advertisements are created in anticipation of release for any sort of content be it music, games, movies or even various businesses.
The video game I worked on was well received throughout its time at my university, positive reception was made possible by creating and showcasing posters, CD cases and art for the music, postcards, stickers and keychains to name a few.
In-game Art
When playing video games we see a whole universe made possible by the assets. The in-game art I had created for this game consisted of faux branding for the buildings and items, user interface design e.g title screens / how the pause screen looks etc. There is quite a lot to think about in regards to how the game looks and functions, so as in any group work,
communication is key.
Social media Presence
Social media is one of the most important places to have a presence. It helps curious eyes in keeping up to date with our progress, We have a timestamp in what we post and we can communicate with any questions others might have.
It makes all the difference when a subject is spread through multiple online platforms, it’s all about being seen and heard, something that was a lot harder from across the globe before the internet.
